As well, the movie deals with themes such as bullying and divorce. Also, Lopez makes out with her ex?-husband in the movie and there is discussion of romance, dating, and marital sex throughout the film. There are several shots of his bare buttocks too, and in one scene it is inferred that a high school senior is giving him fellatio. In another disturbing scene, Guzman forces himself upon Lopez in a high school bathroom. (*cough* Kristin Chenoweth *cough*) As expected, there are plenty of sexually-fueled scenes, including a 5-minute sex scene between Lopez and Guzman's characters, with him undressing her, grabbing and squeezing her breasts, and putting his hand down her panties.

Aside from those two characters, I felt that the casting was poorly done. Surprisingly, Jennifer Lopez plays her role quite well (at least in my opinion) and Ryan Guzman, who plays the obsessed neighbor, is both seductive and maniacal. The film itself is just very predictable and there are so many cheesy one-liners and loads of sexual innuendo for example, "I love your mother's cookies." The acting isn't that horrible though. This is one of those movies that teenage boys and girls would enjoy only for the eye-candy and not so much for the storyline. The Boy Next Door is not worth your time and clearly tries too hard to be controversial.
